Bingo gets smart: In the 1800s, Bingo was employed by German educators to teach children spelling, multiplication tables, and even animal names.

The evolution of Bingo: A variation of Bingo called Le Lotto was created by the French in 1778. The game included 27 squares and a very cool layout featuring three rows and nine columns. The game featured the numbers 1 through 90, but just fives squares in each row featured numbers.

Step right up and play Bingo!: Modern Bingo as we know it today popped up in Pennsylvania in the early 1920s. It became popular as part of a traveling carnival when a merchandiser named Edwin Lowe noticed how much carnival goers loved it. Lowe brought the concept to New York and it essentially took the world by storm.
