82-year-old man slashes woman’s tires after losing Bingo seat

innertires03062015We knew Bingo was an incredibly heated game, especially when the race up to the Bingo caller is on. But believe us, we never thought it would come to this. An 82-year-old man in Florida has been arrested after slashing a woman’s tires out of pure anger. The reason? He was upset that the woman was sitting in the Bingo seat he usually occupied at the local Bingo hall. We’re not even making this up.

Fred Smith has been charged with criminal mischief. That sounds like a fair charge considering what he did. The 82-year-old bingo player grabbed an ice pick and slashed 88-year-old Ethel Britt’s minivan tires. It happened while she was playing a weekly bingo game at the Lake Ashton Retirement Community.

The act was caught on surveillance and Smith has admitted to slashing the tires. He’ll have to pay $500 in damages, plus possible restitution to the victim.

Now, this doesn’t happen a lot. But it does make us wonder how Bingo players take out their frustrations when they’re so close to hitting a Bingo and someone beats them to it. We’ve asked many of our Bingo players how they calm down after just missing the finish line. Here’s what our readers had to say.

Go for a walk

If you’re playing online Bingo, that’s easy to do. Just close your Mac or PC, leave your house, and take a stroll. If you’re playing live Bingo, that’s easier said than done since you might be playing in a neighborhood with not much around (or perhaps a neighborhood with lots of traffic.

Try a different game

This one applies to online Bingo sites like 123BingoOnline.com and live Bingo halls that happen to have casino games. If you’ve just faced missing a win that was so close you could taste it, maybe it’s time to switch games. At our online Bingo site, we’ve got lots of casino games that you can play for free or for real money (in the real world, you’ll need to play for real money as there are no free games). Switching games could help you recoup and calm down.

Do some pushups

Taking that rush of adrenaline and putting it to good use could be a good thing. If you’re angry, do a bit of exercise to cool off. The player who gave us this idea told us that during a normal workout, he could do 30 pushups before dropping to his knees. But in angry mode, he bumped up to 40 or 50, easily. Who knows? Maybe not winning so often is good for your health.

These are just a few of the suggestions we’ve received from our players. If you’ve got some of your own, we’d love to hear about it. Drop us a line and comment with what you like to do to cool off after missing that big Bingo. Or tweet the article and tell the world. And while you’re at it, tweet Fred Smith. Perhaps this information will keep him from slashing more tires after not getting his way at a Bingo hall, or anywhere else life may take him.
